I can think of many, many possible subjects of poetry that would be reaped immediately, so the observation that it's supposed to be poetic gives very little solid justification for this kind of thing. If the poem in some way reflected the complexity of current world events (or perhaps if it were more interesting code) then I could see its worth, however, a simple-minded comparison of the US to "the Empire" is nothing but a troll, and we've seen quite enough of those recently.
