Perlmonks is a community where the status of the question ( satisfactory or not) is determined by the community members as a whole and not just the original poster. The advantage of this approach is that not just the OP but the entire community benefits. Members add better approach/methods wherever it is possible to the extent that they fill satisfactory.

Questions doesn't go unanswered here and OP can always ask more in reply to the answers already given or make comments to enhance the question/answer further.
