Here is a question that search turned up nothing on. Almost every keyboard I have ever purchased has a key on the lefthand side at the bottom with the M$ logo on it. If this button is pressed when using a Windows OS the Start menu comes up. Why can't this be done on a Linux OS when using Kde or Gnome? An unused key is a terrible thing to waste. Could the function be programmed in Perl? Is there a copyright problem, etc.?

Update:Ok, it was a stupid question. No, as you were, it was a very stupid question. And from its reputation, it was very much disliked as well.
In my defense, I use Gnome on Redhat Linux 9 and the key is inoperative. But I did learn something. Think before you write. I learned it again. The next time I get my 1000 dumbass questions pin.
Thanks to all who replied. And thank you again for not burning me when you did.

Perl has one Great Advantage and one Great Disadvantage:
It is very easy to write a complex and powerful program in three lines of code.
