You get an error from where that says nmake is not recognised?... I've never heard of Windows MA89... did you mean ME/98?.
Perhaps nmake.exe isn't in your PATH... do C:\ echo %PATH% to see... otherwise simply specify the C:\full\path\to\nmake.exe.
and if you don't have nmake installed you can get it here!
