That line is (IIRC) more of a debugging message that perhaps should just be removed (certainly at least reworded). This particular "last update" field is for finding recently updated home nodes and so it is only updated if you check the "this is a significant update?" box or if you change your picture.

Oh, and there was a bug a while ago that caused this field to be updated constantly. So don't reply saying that you've never uploaded a picture and never checked the "significant update" box but your "last update" isn't zero. (Except that geek humor says someone will reply exactly that way now just because...)
