I am programming in Perl for several years and recently I got involved in the restaurant industry as an IT manager of a big group of restaurants. I've developed web based intranet application for management and statistics of the restaurants including several costing tools for the menus. The whole system is based on mod_perl 2 and Apache 2. Lately we decided to do web interface based on the same software that will function as point of sale sub-system. I've used Macromedia Flash 7 for the user interface on the waitron stations, keeping the same server platform. So now after 4 months of success with this system (running in 12 restaurants) I can say that Perl was ideal for this project. Screenshot is available here: http://radulov.com/software/shots.gif
