For new development, I'd suggest forgetting sybperl and installing DBI and DBD::Sybase instead. Both were available in ActiveState's PPM repositories last time I checked.

Even for existing code, I'd suggesting porting to DBD::Sybase....

Do not rebuke them with harsh words ... but rather lead them gently - with URLs - so that they may learn wisdom.
