One of the cool things about about Perl/Gtk2 is that it can use the basic Gtk2 theme you set up in ~/.gtkrc-2.0

Here is a theme I'm using called Z, which is derived from the Bumblebee theme. Bumblebee was too bright for my eyes, so I toned it down and blended in some other colors.

In any event, it can give you a few tips on setting up your own custom theme.
