This post is mainly going to be a long ramble. Forgive me :)

In French, "au revoir" means (roughly) "until I see you again." "Adieu" is more final, meaning "good-bye." This is probably not a good-bye, but I will not be posting much here in the future. As of January 29, 2001, I am moving to Europe. I will likely not be working with Perl :( I have only been guaranteed three months over there, but may stay longer depending upon how everything goes.

I will doubtless show up from time to time, but I will probably not be here with near the frequency that I have been in the past. My reasons for moving are complicated and I'd rather not speak about them right now. This post is mainly to say that I am disappointed that I will not be here as often as I have and I will miss the heck out of my interactions with all of you.

Amongst other things, I will be meeting my father for the first time in my life. I have to confess that I'm quite nervous about that, but excited at the same time. He lives in Idstein, Germany, a little town west of Frankfurt. Hopefully it will go well.

I'll also be meeting my brother for the second time in my life (can you tell that I have an odd family history?). He's a British programmer and doesn't do Perl, but hopefully I'll have the chance to convert him. Proselytizing doesn't count if it's within the family, right? :)

There are a couple of European monks that I have already agreed to meet and I look forward to that. If you live in Western Europe, drop me a line and maybe we can get together!

I will show up from time to time. In fact, if I have easy Internet access, perhaps I'll be here more than I have anticipated. In any event, I'll miss you guys (and a couple of ladies as well)!

Forgot to mention, if you would like to contact me, email me at "poec at yahoo dot com."

Cheers,
Ovid
