I think I understand what you are saying, though, and I'm glad that your enjoyment of Perl persists in spite of the negative reaction you continue to accrue here. I think if you work hard to contribute positively to the community, those who habitually downvote you will eventually get bored, and you will no longer be a fixture in Worst Nodes.

As one of those who downvoted the root node, I feel compelled to explain. Personally I'm not a big fan of (Perl) poetry, and I suppose that if I lurked in that section more often than I actually do, I'd probably downvote more attempts. (Although I prefer to upvote good nodes than to downvote bad ones.) To be fair, I noticed this entry because I visited Worst Nodes, which is sometimes my starting point at the Monastery. So yes: jesuashok may still be paying the long tail of his past actions, and yes: there's something unfair about it. Whatever, I suppose that poetry is about showing some wit. Actually, in this instance, I don't see any. There's nothing particularly elegant in it, and no creative use of Perl keywords. So in any case I voted according to conscience, and I like to think that most other people did too. Going into further details... as for the sound meaning of the poem itself, before your allusion, I would have not devised it at all. Maybe it's just me being short-sighted. In fact I could not imagine that in "my_enemy_here" there may have been a reference to enemies here. Indeed I can understand that jesuashok may have an uncomfortable experience in the Monastery, but to reason in terms of "enemies" is IMHO totally inappropriate, and wouldn't even have sprung to mind. And if that is the meaning, which I'm not really sure about, than this interpretation in terms of people "trying to destroy his love", that is supposed to be Perl, after all", well... very childish.
