You'll surprised how much programming in Objective-C will remind you of programming in Perl: the syntax is different, but both languages are highly dynamic, and have built-in data structures that can be used in very similar ways.
Cocoa is an amazingly elegant framework, and worth learning if for no other reason than to pick up some useful and important ways to think about design.
