Deleting the contents of the node doesn't do anything except make you look like you're trying to hide something. May I suggest in the future that you just strike-out anything you feel uncomfortable about and note that that's why you did it? You could even add "I misunderstood the purpose of Perlmonks - sorry" and everyone would think, "My, what a mature and cool person this is, to say s/he was mistaken in such a straightforward manner."
