After I typed a reply, I clicked preview, and was on the preview page. Then I realized that I was not logged in. On the upper right corner there was the login form, so I typed user name and password. It is quite reasonable for me to expect that after logged in, I am still on the page with the preview and the textbox with the content of my node, but that was not the case.

Update:

By the way, I used Opera.

Probably the easiest thing to do in such circumstances is to copy your reply text to your clipboard, login, restart the reply and paste in the text.

Update: I just entered the above as anonymous monk, hit preview, entered the login info, hit login, then the browser's (Firefox) back button and create, and lo and behold it created it as by me.

I think the problem is that you were at that point trying to edit a post from Anonymous Monk from your regular account. You got whisked away from that page because you were no longer allowed to edit it.

Is this a common enough problem to add a bunch of code that changes the owner of the node currently being edited to the just-logged-in monk? I would tend to think not, but then again, I have a login cookie set, so very seldom have to log in...

If this affects people regularly, then of course it should be fixed. But if it's a "once in a blue moon" thing, I'd just assume allowing our illustrious team of pmdev and gods to work on other issues.
