Automatically logged in as someone else

Hey all

This morning when I did my morning browse to the monastery I noticed that I'd been automatically logged in. This was a little strange as I hadn't set the cookie to stay logged in. Then I noticed that I'd been logged in as rdm. Now I know who rdm is, in fact we work for the same ~~organisation~~employer. Just a little confused as we each have our own laptops (not shared)

Any ideas why this would be happening?

Your workplace's proxy likely used rdm's cookie when you fetched the page. This is an issue on your end of the world. Maybe the proxy thought that each of your laptops were each other - like if you had taken his/her address after a DHCP lease expired.	[reply]

The login cookie comes from your end. Either it came from your machine or perhaps a proxy. If it came from your machine ask RDM why! Have a look at the cookie you have for perlmonks and see what it shows. cheers tachyon	[reply]

As much as I would like to be able to claim some credit for the magically replicated login...I cannot. C C is just a bit too careful for me to get away with it. I am suspecting that a wandering DHCP lease, combined with a non-too-bright proxy is at fault, as suggested. -R	[reply]
