UPDATE: I've hashed together the first draft of GB's authentication and authorisation framework. There's no code, but there may be by the end of the day. Go and read about it! First 50 customers get a free GB t-shirt! ... or just an earlier spot in my server logs.

Inspired mostly by elusion's very nice Learning to Parrot, I've decided to document the progress of the weblogging system that I'm developing, using a weblog. :) The weblog itself will evolve from hand-written HTML to beautiful computer-generated TT or Mason code.1 This code will constitute the weblog system itself, which I've named Gutenberg2 pro tempore. More information about the project in general may be found here.

Please feel free to comment or otherwise as you see fit.

1, 2, 3, Zeitgeist! You owe me a Coke. I've been thinking of doing a similar project so there would be a mod_perl2 native journaling package. Keep at it (especially the public documentation). Plugin based softs are great b/c they so encourage contribution; and documenting the progress helps the next cats to do the same in their own idiom and language.

Yes, I know that the name Gutenberg is already in use. I'm thinking of something new.

How about naming it "Mencken", after the best essayist America has ever produced? He left no heirs, so the risk of copyright violation/lawsuit will be minimized as well. This also has the nice side-effect of scaring certain types (who need a scare) right out of their sandals.

Absolutely wonderful idea, though my personal moral standpoint disagrees with his love affair with the bottle. /me waits for someone to tell him that Gutenberg was even more of an alcoholic.
