jdbc thin client functionallity

adolpht has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi All, I know this question's been asked before and I've found many like it in the dbi-users archive and on google, but I never found a positive answer. I'm looking for a package that offers a "jdbc thin client" like database connect. I don't want to install oracle on this server, nor the 10g instant client. I'm after jdbc_like_thin_clinet::Oracle Does such a beast exist?

Hi Joost, thanks for the suggestion. I took a look at DBD::JDBC, but it looks a little to "thick" (vs thin client). It requires the installation and starting of a jdbc server which you then connect to. I'm really after a thin client, ie. one that doesnt require a host of other software to run. Cheers Tony	[reply]
