Audio download through MMS or RTSP

hdeng419 has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I need to download audio file through mms: and rtsp: Is there any library i can use? Post snippet would be great. Believe me, I have spent enough time googling internet, couldn't get useful info. Thanks.

There is Net::RTSP, but beyond that I don't really know what you are up to, so that should suffice.	[reply]

I have spent enough time googling internet Then you should be aware that those are proprietary formats, and reverse engineering them is illegal in certain countries.	[reply]

Nonsense -- RTSP is an open protocol defined in IETF RFC 2326. (But note that RTSP is sometimes used with RealAudio streams, which are proprietary.) On the other hand, MMS is a closed Microsoft protocol, and although some people have managed to partially reverse engineer it, there doesn't seem to be a Perl client implementation.	[reply]
