That would make it rather harder for him to see the humour, one supposes, regarding tsunamis. Perhaps he would prefer jokes about blizzards and ice storms. Or perhaps not; some people see humour as a good coping mechanism ("laughter is the best medicine"), and other people see it as offensive and insensitive. I don't know of any way to reconcile those extremes.
