I am trying to install the Mail-Sendmail module on my Windows 2000 workstation. It doesnt work yet I am able to install other modules so was wondering why I get this message for the attempt to install the Mail-Sendmail module?
ppm> install Mail-Sendmail ==================== Install 'Mail-Sendmail' version 0.79 in ActivePerl 5.8.6.811. ==================== ==================== Install 'Mail-Sendmail' version 0.79 in ActivePerl 5.8.6.811. ==================== Error: error downloading 'http://ppm.ActiveState.com/PPMPackages/5.8-w +indows//MS Win32-x86-multi-thread-5.8/Mail-Sendmail-0.79.tar.gz': 403 Access Deni +ed

    Try pasting the URL into a browser:
    http://ppm.activestate.com/PPMPackages/5.8-windows//MSWin32-x86-multi-thread-5.8/Mail-Sendmail-0.79.tar.gz

    to see whether the URL is accessible
    The access denied message looks like a http message - you might be denied by your proxy.
      The URL is not accessible. I am getting "403 Access Denied" after I paste the URL. Since I can not get this mail module, what other module can I use to send mail out from my Perl Script?
        I just installed the module successfully.
        However, there is version 7.8 of Mail::Sendmail available at http://theoryx5.uwinnipeg.ca/ppmpackages.

    Just a thought, but our proxy server at work denies access to any url with 'mail' in it, to stop people accessing webmail services. You could have the same problem

    You could get someone to download the file for you and mail it to you I suppose.
