In any case, it was not gone for good, as careful reading of the message would have one expect. As it suggests, with the registrar system for domains, there is a grace period between the time when the yearly fee for a domain is overdue and the time the domain is actually deleted. During that time, the domain/zone can no longer be resolved, but the owner has an opportunity to comply with his duty.

Makeshifts last the longest.
