in thread problem installing DBD::Proxy

When I tried to install DBD::Oracle it complained that I didn't have a local installation of Oracle. Well of course I don't. I want to access a remote Oracle server. Assuming that there is a workaround to allow me to install DBD::Oracle without installing Oracle itself, are you saying that DBD::Oracle will allow me to access the remote Oracle server? If so, great -- but what is the workaround?

And in the interest of keeping my options open: Would you mind providing me the URL to the page claiming that it's OK to ignore the forkm failure for Net::Daemon? I want to know that it won't be a hazard on my machine.

    Well,

    Connection to a remote server with DBD::Oracle should be possible, no matter what.

    I also think you should be able to install (only) the client librarys of Oracle (not the full Oracle server), but that's just a guess... I have no experience with Oracle whatsoever...
