Diony97 has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

i'm trying to convert a unicode file to ansi. is there a
good module for this. i can't seem to find a good
way. i'm creating the file through a system command
from winmsd. when i try to read the file it's not what i'm looking for
because windows creates it as unicode.

thanks,
ba

YOu probably want to look at the perlunicode manpage as well as the standard Encode module.
