Let's just say that any Perl forum is ignored by the majority of the Perl "experts". That doesn't mean that the majority of the Perl "experts" doesn't frequent forums. It just means that there are several Perl forums (this site, Usenet, IRC, public mailinglists, private mailinglists, mongers groups, conferences), and everyone participates in a (possibly empty) subset of the forums. And no forum attracks anywhere near half of the "experts".
Every forum has its pro and cons (content, participants, interface, etc), and the pro and cons will vary from person to person. But obviously, the people participating in Perlmonks have bias in favour of Perlmonks. And most likely, the bias will be strongest by those whose major Perl forum is Perlmonks.
