Some of those mailing lists are quite active.

Here are a couple of (good) examples:

• beginners - where you get all sort of basic questions (among others)
• module-authors - where people discuss several items module-creation-related
• fun-with-perl - golf, puzzles, etc... my favourite! :-)

I've seen gurus in all of them :-)
