Anonymous Monk has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

...about writing e-mail scripts in perl for a windows system (i know, one should never use windows...but i can't help myself! It's not my server!) That is...i would *like* to know. But i have another problem. Perl monks are not sending any replies to my requests for my password for my old account...AND...there is no reply to my request for a new account.... Can the perl gods (or some lowlier saint, even) help me with this...?

Replies are listed 'Best First'.

Check your email server isn't bouncing email that doesn't have a date. I had exactly that problem!

Perl is Huffman encoded by design.

For the password issues, try the chatterbox -- i dunno if they can help right away, but someone (it seems like there's always some higher monks on) should be able to at least point you to the right person. Update: Doh. Been too long since i was an anony monk -- no cb unless logged in.

As for sending emails, try Mail::Sendmail -- platform independent and very easy to use. There are plenty of other mail-related modules as well.
err... but doesn't the chatterbox require a login?
