I don't recall categorically saying "Berkeley people are stupid". I think you're blowing this up to make your point.

However, making "ls" do different things depending on output channel leads to this very discussion we are having (regarding the purpose of "ls -1"). Hence, it was a bad choice. Hence, it was an idiotic action, and it happened "at Bezerkeley".

Do I think that people at Berkeley are stupid? No.

Do I think that all software that comes out of BSD releases are idiotic? Hell, no.

Please don't make this more than it is. Me complaining about a misfeature. It's called having an opinion.
