NeoPerl has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

As a newbie in Perl, I'd like to experiment a lot by changing few statements and looking at the output. But I do not have a leased line and hence can't use another hosting server on the internet just for testing purposes all the time. Searching for a perl interpreter on Win32, I have found ActivePerl. Can you suggest any others which are smaller and equally (or slightly less) efficient?

There are indeed Perl binaries other than ActiveState.

I'm actually using a binaries from this site, which has perl, mod_perl, apache and open_ssl.

IndigoStar also provide a Perl binary, which comes with an Apache server, and is compatible with the Activestate's PPMs.

But if you're beginning with Perl, you may find the Activestate distribution a lot easier to install than the two other one...

    Just my 2cents...

I don't know of any other perl for win32 out there (may there are, i don't know..), but whait, where is the issue? the size of the download?
it's just 8 megs and you have to download it _once_! (well, if you ignore updates...)
remember if you don't have windows installer you need to get it first
