Hehe, indeed the first time I had access to one of the 64-bit machines our lab just bought you bet the first thing I did was

$ perl -le print~0
[download]

(not there now so I won't paste the output -- nor fake it!)

You don't need 64bit hardware to have 64bit integers in Perl.	[reply]

Your posting suggests that you need a 64bit machine to have a 64bit integer perl (specially because you weren't able to give the value of ~0 without access to that machine). Perhaps you know that you don't need a 64bit machine to have a 64bit integer perl, I do not think that all readers of your post would realize that. My post wasn't there to correct you - but to clearify the issue for not knowing other readers.	[reply]
