Your posting suggests that you need a 64bit machine to have a 64bit integer perl (specially because you weren't able to give the value of ~0 without access to that machine). Perhaps you know that you don't need a 64bit machine to have a 64bit integer perl, I do not think that all readers of your post would realize that. My post wasn't there to correct you - but to clearify the issue for not knowing other readers.
