IBM Common Base Event

Random_Walk has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Brothers and Sisters in Perl I beg your indulgence

I am looking at using "Common Base Events" (CBEs from now on) as specified in theCannonical Situation Data Format to interface all sorts of data sources (Java, Logfiles, Tivoli ITM etc) and data sinks (Tivoli Enterprise Console, SAS, Data Warehouse). As far as I can find there is no work done in Perl to create, verify, store, forward, translate CBEs though IBM and Eclipse have done plenty of work in Java.

Does anyone know of any existing work in Perl
Is anyone interested in my work if I create a module for these events
Anyone out there used CBEs and can advise me on the sanity of my interface

If anyone is interested I will post the rough scetch of CBE.pm interface I have so far.

There doesn't seem to be anything on CPAN for this, though I could be wrong. Is anyone interested in my work if I create a module for these events CPAN will always be interested, especially as there doesn't seem to be anything out there. My criteria for good software: Does it work? Can someone else come in, make a change, and be reasonably certain no bugs were introduced?	[reply]
