There doesn't seem to be anything on CPAN for this, though I could be wrong.

Is anyone interested in my work if I create a module for these events

CPAN will always be interested, especially as there doesn't seem to be anything out there.

My criteria for good software:
  1. Does it work?
  2. Can someone else come in, make a change, and be reasonably certain no bugs were introduced?
