I've recently been browsing the Perl Monks site during my spares at school, where I am forced to use windoze. I've noticed, however, that each time I visit it here at school, there is a nifty font for the titles of things (Perl Monks Discussion, Seekers of Perl Wisdom, etc...). However, this font does not seem to show up on the Mac.

Just thought I'd let people know, if they didn't already.

A couple of months ago, I would have wondered what the heck you're talking about. But then I installed Gentoo. And installed the freefonts package. And then I noticed PM change considerably. Or, at least the titles did.

According to the distribution's readme, this was put together by Christoph Lameter in 1995. A google search for "freefonts Christoph Lameter" turns up a number of hits - you may download one, follow the instructions, and suddenly PM changes for you. Assuming you're using the BSD version of Mac (OSX), not the classic, anyway.

Once I found out about this set, I did the same thing with my RHEL3 box - downloaded the fonts, installed 'em, and got a better print server for it ;-) I just don't remember which archive I took it from.

Ah, both are good ideas that I shall look into.
