Anonymous Monk has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Dear Monks, In the compagny where I work there is a very slow Web application. Response times of two minutes, even up to three. Enough time for meditation, one could say. I can easily write my own fast CGI, enter the data, and from there access this slow one. Is there a nice Perl Module to access this slow Web application. Fill in some pull-down menus and text fields. Thanks a lot. Ton 't Lam

2 minutes!! Itīs very very slow!

Are you using only cgi? How many access do you have ?
Think on fast-cgi or better (in my oppinion) Mod_Perl...

Using apache? See mod-status info (with ExtendedStatus On)...

See this node suggested here to examine your apache .............

I may be off base here, but I'd guess it isn't Apache related, more likely DB bound or a slow background process.

Marco and Lee, This is about entering one form, and then wait two minutes. Then the next one, and so on. Unbelievable but true. I have no information about the implementation. If I was a decision taker, I would kick it out. Thanks for your comments. I will use WWW:Mechanize, as proposed above. Ton
