We're exploring different publishing methods at Perl.com lately. In that spirit, I've started a new series about refactoring and updating the Everything Engine, a version of which runs this site. I thought it might be interesting to people curious about how the site works, as well as people who want to learn more about testing, design, refactoring, and trying to maintain an old (and in some places, scary) set of code.

The first installment is at Refactoring Everything: Day One. I'll keep publishing them for the next several weeks.

    I’ve been following your posts with some interest; you seem to have put a lot of effort into your weblog lately. Thanks for that. Which brings me to my request: your posts show up in the newsfeed for ONLamp.com, but not in the one for Perl.com – wouldn’t it be more appropriate if it were the other way around (if not in both)?

    Makeshifts last the longest.

      We're going to take the both approach. I was in the office earlier this week to work on a redesign of the Perl.com homepage to reflect the new publishing strategy.

      Internally, I've been tagging my Perl-related posts appropriately. When we have the new design in place (a couple of weeks away, on the big whiteboard schedule), we'll put just the Perl posts on Perl.com but interleave them with the rest of the LAMP posts on ONLamp.com.
