bent has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi all,
Is there a site that provides cross-referenced browsing of the various perl versions: something like the linux cross-reference site?
Thanks

You might also be interested in the Perl Timeline, where changes are documented.
For information on issues with different OSes, check out the documentation of those Perl distributions, eg. Active State. You can find more links to different Perl distributions on our Outside Links page.

Should you come across a site with a comprehensive comparison of Perl distributions, please tell us, so it can be added to Outside Links.

This site offers a lot of different versions of Perl, ranging from Perl 1 (!) to 5.005.
    Quite impressive...

Hi again, Apparently I didn`t express myself clearly - I`m not looking to download the perl core source, or module source. I`m trying to find a webified version of the source which allows for easy linking between function calls etc. If it`s not clear what I`m after, please have a look at the link included above. Thanks.

LXR itself has information on the tool used. Apparently it's a Perl script and can be downloaded here. In a way you answered your own question.

Barrie Slaymaker started work on one, entitled Safari, but it seems to have stalled.
