Hope I've picked the right place to post this. Didn't seem to fit in neatly anywhere, which i hope isn't an indication it shouldn't be anywhere, if you see what I mean.

Following on from this node(Perl Mongers in Wikipedia), are any PerlMonks besides myself authors of Perl bots on wikipedia? I was considering starting a "perl bots" subcat of the "bots" category on wikipedia and possibly an associated "list of perl bot operators" or similar to coordinate wiki/perl stuff.

(A bot on wikipedia is an "automatic process that interacts with Wikipedia as though they were a human editor" that wikipedia readers code and run on a voluntary basis. People use them for various administrative tasks such as cleaning up spelling errors, reverting vandalism to pages, and other more wikipedia-specific technical tasks.)

    I happen to know what Wikipedia is, but it would have been good if you'd included a link to it anyway (or even to a "What is Wikipedia?" page).

    I have no idea what a "bot" is on Wikipedia. Why don't you make your references to specific items on Wikipedia into links to those items? It'd also be good if you directly included a short explanation of what "bots" are in this context.

    Maybe link to your personal profile (whatever they call it) at Wikipedia.

      I assumed that knowledge of wikipedia's existence would be almost total even within the general population, let alone within the population subset of proficient computer users on this website, it didn't even occur to me that people might not know what it is. I note from the node you provided that there is even special wikipedia-specific markup for use on perlmonks. So a little leeway please but I appreciate what you say.

      Nevertheless, I have updated the post to include this information now.
