in reply to Has the vote fairy taken ill?

A similar question was asked a while ago. See Votes Left not resetting?, especially tye's responses to Re: Votes Left not resetting?. As I understand it, if you log in using a login cookie for one of the XML tickers then you aren't really here and therefore you can't (shouldn't) spend your votes, so the vote fairy doesn't even check to see if they need to be reset.

He must've figured it out because his home node went from saying that he hasn't been here for several weeks to showing him hitting the site every 10 seconds, like clockwork.1

1 I hope whatever polling he his doing at least slacks off when he isn't actively watching the results.

went from saying that he hasn't been here for several weeks to showing him hitting the site every 10 seconds,

Hmmm... Katterbox (Java chat client) must poll in 10 second intervals.

I still find it curious though that actually logging in and manually voting and posting replies doesn't get counted as "being here" if you log in with a cookie.

As I told ysth in a private chat I've been using the same cookie for a couple of years and this is only the second time that I can recall not having my votes left count not update.

I also find it interesting that invoking the Ketterbox chat client caused my last time here to start updating. Curious.

AFAIK sporty never implemented cloaked fetches.
