Recent discussion in the CB led to tye suggesting that PerlMonks 'merge poems/obfu into "Perl at Play" section'. "Recess" and "Courtyard" were suggested as other possible names for the section.

One of the benefits of doing this may be that trollish nodes that have appropriate elements of humor or humorous replies could be moved to such a section where they are less likely to cause offence and may escape the -- frenzy that feeds trolls.

I'm not advocating a place for trolls nor encouraging trolls. However a place where nodes that are on the margin of trollishness can be put where they won't cause the offence that would otherwise be engendered in sections such as SoPW and Meditations would have some virtue.

Why not simply add a "Troll" section ? I, personally, don't mind reading the (sometimes) innovative posts that trolls come up with ... and I always enjoy reading the sanctimonious reactions that such posts evoke.

Those of us who are annoyed by such postings could simply avoid that section ... and those of us who like a good laugh, or who have a propensity to jump on a soapbox, would know precisely where to head :-)

    Cheers,
    Rob

Do you really expect trolls or trollish newbies to post in a troll section, if there were one?!? At most I would expect polite trolls to do so, and I don't even know if there exist any, but if there are then they're not trolls at all, period. :-)

Of course, if it's up to some janitor to move such nodes to the hypothetic section, it would still involve the same mechanisms as considering. Such a thing would be of some utility only if you want to see them all together. Do you?

I was under the impression that moving an unapproved node is easy, and does not require a janitor?!

At least this would be a viable alternative compared to letting such posts rot in the limbo of withhold approval, as happened recently with this "gem".

Also, going with the monastry theme, I would call such a section "sanctuary" ;-)
