in reply to Book Share Area
I have a close friend who is *extremely* happy to get my so-called
"hand-me-downs" whenever I get the latest edition of a book. I have
collected lots of books over the years and find I have to cull
the collection from time-to-time. The chance to give a book
to someone who might not be able to easily afford it, albeit the
previous edition or "hand-me-down" is worth merit. The information
in previous editions is usually accurate even though it doesn't
have the "latest features" highlighted. There are resources
on the 'net to fill in the blanks.
Perhaps people could list books they have available and who ever
would like the book could accept the book freight collect so
the donor didn't have to pay the shipping, and it's a much
smaller price to pay for a book. If a book didn't get adopted
into a new home within a set period of time, then it could be
removed from the list and the donor could find it another home
like the local library or the Salvation Army.
I'd much rather seeing a book go to a new home where it is
wanted and loved rather than going into the void of the Salvation
Army bin... IMHO
