Preview button for code submission page?

Just a thought, I know there's a preview button just about everywhere else to look at what one is about to post before pressing "the red button" to submit their post. I notice that a preview button is missing from the Add Your Code page.

Wouldn't it be a good idea to have one there so code doesn't get posted without being formatted properly and such? I know (now) one can always go back and re-edit code, but it's not real obvious to a new user of that page.

Also, I placed my code for dumpview under a missing category for Database which is missing and IMHO, should be listed for database related and DBI related code. Just a suggestion.

I think that a preview button on the code submission would be nice...but not necessary. When you submit your code, there is a little link that says something among the lines of "Edit your code submission" or something. So you can actually edit that root node anytime you want by just clicking on the link. Since this link is there, the preview button would be pretty obsolete. Though it would be much more convenient to have a preview. That way you don't have to click back and forth to edit every mispelling and such. I do have one suggestion, though, that I think some people will like. When you add code in the 'code' box, it would be A LOT nicer if the <code> tags were automatically added on. I noticed that many people assumed this which led to the node being considered for no <code> tags. Just my opinion :) Almost a Perl hacker. Dave AKA damian I encourage you to email me	[reply]

I don't know about a preview button, but I wrote a mammouth tome about DBI in the Code Catacombs last week. I dutifully installed a <READMORE> after the first few exciting paragraphs designed to capture your attention, and then blabbered away for hours. Imagine my shock and horror when upon submitting I see that the whole post appears in all its gory details. I can still see in the source the place where the <READMORE> appeared, was recognised and dutifully stripped out, but there's no "Read more" link on the page. So shoot me.	[reply]

The trick behind the <READMORE> tag is in where it is activated. When you surf to the node that the post is on, you get the entire document. You are "reading" the document, why make you hit a button to see the rest of it? The <READMORE> tag is a big win for the main page or the section page of some sections. I don't think that all the sections are empowered yet, the main issue was with megaposts that might end up on the front-page. It's missing from the page for submitting reviews too. Reviews tend to be longish, preferably with good formatting and code examples -- which means typos and unclosed tags. I had people voting on my last review before I'd finished cleaning it up.	[reply]
