What's up? Missing some birdie or eagle on the roman challenge? :)

I'm doing my best, really. Every time I try to make it work without telling it that IV=4, just I=1 and V=5, I end up making it longer anyway. I'm new to perl, so there's probably some nifty special variable or something that would solve all my problems. If you have any tips, I'll be glad to hear them because I'm not doing particularly well in any of the challenges.
Oh well, I think I'm doing OK for my age... | [reply] |
I like watching people playing Perl golf sometimes, but I'm not a player myself. May I direct you to Obfuscated Code? It's not always about golf, or japh, you'd find a bunch of techniques that "abuse" the syntax. Don't forget to open the spoiler. You may also want to check the Perl golf archive. Update (18-05-2007): However, I don't think this is the best way to learn Perl in usable sense (production).

Yeah. But, now I've learnt some stuff, I don't know what to do with it! Golf just seemed to be the thing on offer, so I went for that. If you have some "challenges", or just something for me to try, I'd be happy to hear them too.
