bridie0326 has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

My name is Bridie I need some help with Perl poetry. I am a biochemist and my boyfriend is a programmer and as part of an anniversary gift I have made an attempt at writing a poem in Perl for him. Now, aside from QBasic in high school some time ago, I really don't know the first thing about programming. However I have read many a Perl tutorial and think I may have the beginnings of a good (for a super beginner) poem. That being said, if anyone is interested in maybe helping me I would *really* appreciate it. I'd rather not post the poem here (yet) because I imagine it would be painful for some of you to read, but if you are interested in helping you can contact me here or my AIM screen name is birdee7002. Thank you so much!

Anyone check if this is legit? A quick Google search suggests it is but the blog entries are all older (even if you drill down through Xanga to the LiveJournal ones). Still, this sounds legit and it's a bit disapointing to see this post almost even on up and down votes (+7-6 last I checked). Out of all of the things that can be done with Perl writing a romantic poem for a significant other seems like one of the most important.
      I agree :)
Birdie, I've /msg'd you (I don't have AIM) if you still need help.

I used AIM Express to contact her and offered what help I could. She is writing poems in several different real world languages (like Spanish) and thought Perl would be a great addition since he is a programmer. I am guessing she stumbled across other poems written in Perl. BTW, it's the same boyfriend mentioned in her older blogs. I hope he appreciates how lucky he is! :-)
