Blue_eyed_son has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi--I'm trying to update my version of WWW::Mechanize through PPM using XP. When I go to install I get the following error:

ERROR: Don't know how to unpack http://trouchelle.com/ppm/MSWin32-x86- +multi-thread-5.8/WWW-Mechanize-1.30.zip

Does anyone know what I can do to make this work? Thanks.

If you're using ActivePerl build 818 or 819, you'll have to upgrade to 820 or higher to use the trouchelle repository, as only those higher versions support zip archives within the ppm client.

    try running:

    ppm install http://trouchelle.com/ppm/WWW-Mechanize.ppd

from the command prompt. Failing that check out the hints and tips from Installing Modules in the tutorials section of this site.

    Update: changed formatting for clarity.

    Hope this helps

    Hi Blue_eyed_son,

How did you try to install it ? I just ran:
    ppm install http://trouchelle.com/ppm/WWW-Mechanize.ppd
from the command prompt and WWW::Mechanize-1.30 installed just fine.

    Cheers,
