You might try the Inline::C module. Read the Inline::C Cookbook for many examples of its use. -David.	[reply]

Just the other day we had the thread Challenge: CPU-optimized byte-wise or-equals (for a meter of beer) which has some examples that `use Inline C`, and some XS examples as well. Read also perlxstut and Inline. Perl 6 in German	[reply] [d/l]

Read the XS docs: perlxstut, perlxs, perlapi, perlcall. You can also use Inline::C (very good for simple things) or SWIG to create wrappers for C libraries.	[reply]

A very nice addition to the standard docs is Gisle Aas' Perlguts Illustrators, showing nice little diagrams for the internal data structure. If you really plan on going that route. :)	[reply]

I hear there's an excellent tutorial here in the monastery. But inline c answer for CPU-optimized byte-wise or-equals is a great example and should win the meter of beer! -derby	[reply]
