deadpickle has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I have been trying to install the goocanvas libs on my Windows system. I've been in contact with the goocanvas mailing-list but its close to being resolved. I downloaded the windows pre-built dlls from here and installed them in the required areas in my camelbox distro of perl. From there I have been trying to install Goo::Canvas. spicy Jack has been helping me with this but I'm stuck. When I go the perl MakeFile.PL I get this error:
Package goocanvas was not found in the pkg-config search path. Perhaps you should add the directory containing `goocanvas.pc' to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable No package 'goocanvas' found at Makefile.PL line 52 *** can not find package goocanvas *** check that it is properly installed and available in PKG_CONFIG_PA +TH at Makefile.PL line 52
To get through this error I need the file goocanvas.pc. So far I'm unable to find this file since I am using pre-built libs. Has anyone done this? I would prefer not to make my own goocanvas.pc file and any help in this is appreciated.

The pre-built dlls don't contain any goocanvas.pc, so pkg-config is not going to be able to help you. Since Goo-Canvas-0.05/Makefile.PL is based around pkg-config, you might as well build goocanvas yourself.
