in reply to Leftover votes: wild suggestion / feature request(s)

I don't even cast my 12 very often! I suppose I might occasionally find it useful to have extras on some days; but really, voting is not what I come here for.

One thing that would make it more interesting for me would be the ability to pile multiple votes on one post. Obviously, there's a big range of value in posts deserving a vote.

I personally believe that you may be surprised to discover that it has been suggested several times: I am in full support of the idea. But it has never been accepted by the powers that be. General consensus seems to be that this possibility should come at some expense, e.g. spending 3 votes to cast to. As far as I'm concerned, I would make the scheme "unlimited" perhaps with n(n+1)/2 votes spent to cast n. If that were allowed, and if the leftover suggestion were as well, I may give up to 11 points to a single node, and still have 10 left: not bad!

I think if you're looking at a fair way to allow multiple votes on one node without encouraging piling on at the expense of other deserving nodes, then n2 might be more appropriate.
