TuftyTrue has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi All,

Still slogging on with this. Cany anyone commnet on if the following code (or approach) will/would work for getting an MMS from a provider. The URL string of chars was got from PDUspy from my GSM modem for a given MMS message.

my $url = 'http://Orange:Multimedia@mmsca.orange.co.uk:9201/SLFIe8Co4MIAAGvOAAAAHgABtd4AAAAA';

use LWP::Simple;
my $content = get $url;
die "Couldn't get $url" unless defined $content;

print "content=".$content."<<<\n";

Is it possible to get the MMS from the provider in this way and then parse it? (this just times out at the moment - thus my asking for help!!)

ANY help / exampl code gratefully recieved!!

Regards

Tufty True

    As with MMS retrieval from the SMS, I think most of us are still wondering, "Ok, what in the bloody hell is an MMS|SMS|GMS|PDU, and why should I care?"

    In other words, a little context (not to mention formatting), can only help us to help you.

    Did you try to get that URL in a "normal" browser?

    What happens then? If you get a timeout as well, then it's no perl specific problem.

      I tried poking it with a stick:

      $ ping mmsca.orange.co.uk ping: unknown host mmsca.orange.co.uk
      ... which isn't what I'd call encouraging.

        Apparently its internal, for only for those with an account on orange.co.uk, some kind of ISP
