Maybe because it's so easy to do that yourself, by adding a line on your home node?

    Sure it is, but then what is the meaning of optional (as you can write anything in "real name"), textual information seen only by Gods? I just don't understand it.

    Sorry if my questions sound a bit arrogant, I didn't planned them to; that little text field just took me by surprise.

      The field can, for example, be used to verify that you're the account holder if your password recovery email is not reachable for you anymore.

      Sorry if that wasn't clear, I didn't meant to say that it's a bad idea to make it optional. I just don't think it's worth the effort, given the horror stories I hear about the perlmonks code base.
