rooneyl has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hello all, I do some of web work (mainly using mason), and often keep a spare session open so that I can chat with others who are on the server.
My question is; is there a way to run the unix talk daemon via a link on a web page, which passes the details for the person I want to chat to.
I have looked at the cpan module Net::Telnet, can someone let me know if I am on the right lines?
Thank you for any guidence/help.

run the unix talk daemon via a link on a web page

That doesn't even make sense (to me), and I think maybe the question as you've put it is an XY Problem. Tell us what it is that you really want to achieve, and maybe we can help you get there. And please, tell us what you've tried already, including code, if possible. That helps a lot.
