rajivp has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I have a need to send bulk mail from a CGI script. There are more than one Perl module that does this. I tried to find an answer with Google, but that was not easy. So I am turning to the folks here. I would be sending the mails such that the receiving mail servers do not see me as a spammer.

I would really appreciate it, if you can suggest which module should I be using and if possible, things to guard against so that I am treated as a legitimate sender.

That is what all spammers say, nice try :)
That is not true. I understand the seriousness of the board here and would not try to waste people's time. I run a legitimate portal on a dedicated server with a static IPs. I will add an spf record for the domain and will set the return-path/reply-to in the messages. We have about 30,000 subscribers . We need to send monthly news letters etc. All I need is the right perl module to use instead of sendmail directly, and that I am able to set the right mail headers. I was hoping to save some time. So I am seeking advice from people who know.

Do it, and come back after the record has propagated through the DNS.

Don't send mails from your CGI on your web server, ask your provider/hoster for an existing mail server and let that server handle the mail delivery. The provider's/hoster's mail server usually has a better "reputation", which leads to a reduced number of false spam reports.
